Running to State

Cross Country conquers at state, regionals

On your mark, get set, go. With looks of determination throughout the starting line, every runner prepared themselves for the task ahead.

“Before a race, I prepare myself by stretching and warming up. Sometimes I roll a little bit,” said Marco Thurmond, 10.

Cross Country wasn’t something just anyone could do. It required endurance, but, it had its advantages. It kept competitors healthy, and made the immune system stronger.

“When I finish running I feel exhausted but accomplished,” said Madison Reed, 11.

Cross Country ran their hardest and pushed through the pain, that took them to Regionals where they won first and took State where boys and girls placed second.

“When we got second in state it felt amazing because we knew the team’s hard work paid off in the end. I am extremely happy that I got to be a part of a team like this one. Everyone was like a family,” said Lyric Peterson, 10.

When one person finished, they encouraged their teammates and supported their teammates on the side, as the rest of the team crossed the finish line.

“As a team, we are extremely close and supportive which helps us to be the best athletes and students that we can,” said Trinity Carter, 12.

The team had a great season, everyone had put all of their time, competing at an extremely high level.
