Determination and Motivation

Girls' basketball gives it their all

Basketball wasn’t just a game. It was a place of refuge, comfort and peace. It was pain, joy and satisfaction. To the players it was a relationship with love and respect. It was not a game just anyone could play.

“There’s something about the game that I just love. You could be having a terrible day, but the minute you step onto the court, all of your stress, pain, problems, they all go away. The game is so much fun. You have to work so hard every day in practice and I love it. The team always has your back. They’re family. The bond we share can’t be broken. That’s why I play the game. Basketball isn’t just a sport. It’s my life,” Sierra N. Smith, 9, said.

As the season progressed, the girls did, too, in how they played and how close they became.

“My favorite part of Basketball is bonding with my team and becoming a family,” Elizabeth Hendrickson, 10, said.

The anticipation and excitement are the feelings that filled the girls’ minds before they run out onto the court.

“Before the game we are all pumped and ready to play the game we love,” Sierra L. Smith, 9, said.

The team put all their effort into each game for the love of the game and the love for their teammates.
